Fast ferries along the coast and in fjords are being electrified on a large scale. This aligns with the government’s ambition of zero emissions from fast ferries by 2025. Halogen has been supporting Norled and Seam in developing a self-operating battery swap system.
Smaller battery packs
Since fast ferries have shorter docking times than larger ferries, it’s not feasible to charge them at the dock while passengers disembark and board. Instead, the solution for electric fast ferries is to swap out the battery at the dock.
Halogen led a user-centred development process to create the visual design of the battery swap system. The design reflects Norled’s vision while supporting the functionality of the system itself.
In addition to the physical design, Halogen has developed the system’s identity, including its logo, colour palette, typography, and visualisation of use.
