Design sprints yield results
Based on insights into the needs and behavior of Norwegian, German, and English panel participants, our designers developed ideas for the desired user experience, content, and functionality. We then conducted six design sprints alongside representatives from Norstat. A design sprint is a condensed, intensive development process where new solutions are created within a limited timeframe. Each design sprint in this project lasted three days, and we delved into topics such as:
General user experience and the development of a personalized dashboard
Onboarding new panel members
Interaction among members
How surveys are packaged (survey wrapping)
Various content concepts, such as statistics solutions for members
Loyalty concept and reward system
"The work on the new concept and solution for our panel members has led to a measurable impact on improved response rates and significantly higher member activity. The new solution has also enabled us to better tailor communication to each member,"
— Tor Arne Olsen, IT Project Manager at Norstat.
Service design, gamification, and nudging
The project was based on service design principles. Additionally, we drew inspiration from gamification and nudging. To motivate members and make the experiences more valuable for users, we applied knowledge from behavioral theory.
We tested a range of prototypes with users, continuously adjusting them in parallel with ongoing technical implementation, in close collaboration with Norstat's own development department.
Halogen also contributed to adapting the visual profile, animation, coding, illustrations, and a film explaining the concept.
