Tomorrow's defence sector
For many years, Halogen has built strong relationships with key players in the Norwegian defence sector. We design tools and operational concepts that ensure the safety of our country.
In the coming years, the military will be strengthened. To translate the government’s ambitious plans into operational effectiveness, the defence sector needs, among other things, expertise in design and innovation that is specialised to the defence domain.
After 20 years of practical experience, Halogen knows the defence sector from the inside. We collaborate with the defence industry, R&D environments, and the military itself, assisting in everything from designing control rooms to innovating and developing comprehensive defence management.
We have developed our own design method for safety-critical systems. It is published in the doctoral dissertation "Method Development for the Design of Safety Critical Systems" (Schønheyder, 2019). The framework combines design methodology with aspects such as human factors and situational awareness theory, providing robust and effective tools for developing solutions with very low margin of error.
In close collaboration with our clients, we tackle both large, abstract system-level tasks and specific, concrete issues in users' daily operations:
We develop concrete products and solutions that users apply in operations, alongside companies such as Kongsberg and Teleplan.
We explore new areas of opportunity with organisations like the Defense Research Institute and Thales.
We map at the system level with actors such as the Ministry of Defense and Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency.
A holistic understanding of the situation we work in is crucial to the way we work. We always work closely with users, whether they are at the tactical or strategic level. The most important development work takes place in the field, so we adopt a practical and pragmatic approach to process and project execution.
